To Be or Not to Be
August 26, 2017
On Tuesday I had the opportunity to sit front row at Hamlet. It was phenomenal. The whole experience was phenomenal.
Thanks to the app TodayTix the ticket was only 7 dollars (with out the app it would have been closer to $200!). Huge, huge shoutout to my friend Lizzie who recommended the app to me. The app was extremely easy to use and it only took me a couple of tries to get a hold of the last minute rush tickets.
The show itself was incredible. I had never seen Hamlet before, so I was glued to the stage the entire night. Andrew Scott starred as Hamlet, the tragic crown prince of Denmark. Scott is most known for his role as Moriarty in Sherlock, aka one of my favorite characters in one of my favorite shows. The monologues were perfectly executed and never seemed forced. Lines that have been repeated for hundreds of years seemed like I was hearing them for the first time. The setting and the costuming of the production was modern, however they stayed extremely true to the original Shakespeare. It made for a captivating show.
After the show, I got a little turned around walking back to the tube station (I did find the Canadian embassy though) and when I walked back by the theater I was shocked to find that Andrew Scott was there outside the theater. A medium awkward selfie followed.
