What I Wore: Two Weeks in South Africa
June 15, 2017When I was preparing to go to South Africa, I had the hardest time finding recommendations for what to pack. I was going on a safari, but I didn't want to rock the "1950's, all khaki, tourist, pockets everywhere" thing. Additionally, May in the US is the beginning of fall in South Africa, even though I was sweating through my clothes here in Arkansas, I was getting ready for chilly early mornings and warm breezy afternoons.
So, I thought I'd put together a compilation of some of my staples for early fall in the southern most part of Africa.
When you go on safari you'll most likely be starting early in the morning to have to opportunity to see all of the animals when they're most active. This makes layers CRUCIAL. The striped sweater and the fringe scarf were my best friend on safari mornings. Cozy, cute, and neutral. I also recommend a hat for going on safari, because riding in an open air jeep for hours can do a number on your hair.
Cape Town was so fun and trendy, but also very relaxed (am I describing myself here?). Days were warm and the nights had a cool breeze. I love a casual striped dress for shopping in the open air markets or a winding tour of Stellenbosch.
If you ever have the chance to visit South Africa, hop on the plane immediately. It's an incredible incredible country, full of such rich, interesting, and relevant history, fantastic food, and wonderful people.
Been to South Africa? What did you wear? What did you like? Let me know below!
